Welcome

Welcome to Jumeira Baccalaureate School, an established IB school in the heart of Dubai, where young people thrive, learn and succeed. Our school aims to provide exceptional opportunities for each of our students in a supporting and challenging environment. A Taaleem school, JBS prides itself on high academic standards, however we are more than this. Truly excellent education is about developing a passion for life-long learning and a capability for independent thinking. Our confident and articulate students are encouraged to discover interests that extend beyond the classroom. Our school community has 85 different nationalities, enabling students to develop moral values, and display kindness, courage, respect and integrity towards each other within a truly multi-cultural environment.

School description

JBS is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), and fully authorized to offer the other three IB programmes:
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students aged 3-11
The Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11-16
The Diploma Programme (DP) for students aged 16-19
The Career-related Programme (CP) for students aged 16-19

Our curriculum design focuses on concept based learning and inquiry. Learning is meaningful and linked to real world situations in order for students to be engaged learners.

As JBS is a growing learning community of over 85 different nationalities the needs of our students vary. We share our diversity on a daily basis both inside and outside the classroom in order to enrich the learning experience for our students and the whole school community.

Differentiation regarding students’ language needs, educational background and cognitive abilities takes place in our lessons. Opportunities are given to students to develop an awareness of their learning styles through a variety of tasks such as portfolios, presentations, student led conferences and reflections.

JBS offers a wide range of activities to students through our Extra-Curricular Activities programme (ECA’s): football, tennis, rugby, volleyball, basketball, swimming, badminton, drama, dance, guitar and choir, public speaking, Model United Nations, The Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Scholars Cup to name a few.
The ECAs and other special programmes enhance the academic offerings and provide authentic extensions to what the students learn in class.
Students are also given opportunities to develop leadership skills by running the Student Council, clubs, and committees.
